Abstract

The theory of extended deterrence has been widely used in the field of warfighting, but it is uncertain whether the theory is still applicable in the space domain. In this context, the aim of this article is to provide an answer to the research question of whether the theorem of space-extended deterration can transcend traditional domains and be extended to the spacedomain. This article focuses on the challenges the United States confronts in providing spaceextensive deterral to its treaty allies. It examines the unique characteristics of space domains that render the theory unreliable.
